Hi everyone! My name is Melissa and I am also known as Memaw to my grands. I earned my Aromatherapy Certificate at the American College of Healthcare Sciences in Portland, OR and am a Registered Aromatherapist with the Aromatherapy Registration Council. My desire is to provide holistic aromatherapy counseling to help people restore balance to their bodies.
I believe God gave us every plant and animal on this planet for our benefit;
we need to know how to use those resources wisely.
Prayer is a vital part of everything we do.
An Essential Oil “is the distilled (sometimes expressed) product of the volatile (meaning easily evaporates when exposed to air) components synthesized by various plant tissues of a single plant species” (Petersen, 2016). Use of essential oils is documented all they way back to Egyptian times where they were used for embalming (Petersen, 2016). They have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years in a variety of applications (Tisserand & Young, 2014).
Maurice Gatefosse, a French chemist and perfumer, coined the term “aromatherapy” in the 1930s (Tisserand & Young, 2014). Aromatherapy is defined as “the use of essential oils to promote health, hygiene, and psychological wellbeing (Tisserand & Young, 2014).
What is an Aromatherapy Consultation? There is a lot of misinformation about essential oils and their use. There are several companies that sell essential oils and blends, but there is little, if any, information shared about the cautions and contraindications of these concentrated plant extracts and anyone can purchase and use them. At Aromatic Remedies, we consider the whole person when making custom blends. This is why a consultation must be conducted before you will be able to purchase blends to help restore balance to specific body functions.
A Registered Aromatherapist is not authorized to “lay their hands” on any client (unless they have other certifications like massage therapist, esthetician, acupuncturist, etc), therefore, all of our consultations are conducted via Zoom or other video chat application; making it possible for anyone to receive custom and personalized attention.
The information that you share with your Aromatherapist is protected by HIPPA and is confidential. It will be used to provide holistic education and aromatherapeutic blends.
Testimonials from Clients
WOW, she’s GOOD
I have used of-the-shelf aromatherapy products over the years with mixed success. In both of my interactions with Melissa the results were IMMEDIATELY positive!
Was going though a rough time with anxiety…Melissa provided step by step holistic approaches that helped and gave me a blend of aromatherapy that really helped! I couldn’t be happier!
The best thing about Aromatic Remedies is that its about healing and not sales. 5 out of 5 ever day of the week!
Honesty, caring, knowledgeable
